In today's snail mail, a reader who didn't provide an address gave me $5. And another reader, in Ohio, gave me $20 -- with a card.
"Merry Christmas, Jim," they wrote, "and thanks for all the work you do on Gannett Blog. I'm one of those stressed-out but still-employed Gannetters, and everything I know I learned on your blog."
Thank you, both.
With those contributions and advertising sales, I've now reached 83% of my goal. But there are just 11 days remaining in the quarter. As they say in Chicago, vote give early and often! Here's the breakdown so far:

ReplyDeletePeople who donate to Beggar Hopkins are not smart.
ReplyDeleteBe smart this holiday season. Donate to a worthy cause. This isn't it.
7:45, Jim scares you, huh? It sucks when a company becomes transparant to so many. This blog is an invaluable tool to every employee. Keep up the great work, Jim. My donation for the year is on its way.
ReplyDeleteJim...I sent my $20 anonymously about two weeks ago. Keep up the great work and thank you for a forum so that we can share info and help one another.
ReplyDeleteNo one is scared, 7:50. We just think it's sad for you to give money to Beggar Hopkins, who lives in one of the most expensive cities, rather than someone who needs it.
ReplyDeleteAs the other poster said, be smart this holiday season. Donate your money to someone who needs it.
