"Wtf!?"
-- user RaisingKane in Cincinnati, in one of more than 100 comments posted today in response to Gannett's unexpected announcement that it's shutting down the MomsLikeMe network on Oct. 14.
Meanwhile, user foxglove has managed to slip into the site a discussion thread called, "BOYCOTT GANNET AND ALL THEIR SUBSIDIARIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Typical Gannett. Utter failure wherever technology is concerned.
ReplyDeletemaybe they can join forces with the "Occupy" protests....
ReplyDeleteperhaps combined, someone would care about their plights.
sorry, i was stuck on the support end for a while, and the site's users are a little "off"....
It would be 6am on a school/work day, and hundreds of calls would be flooding in because they couldn't post comments........
how about.....getting off your arse, logging OFF the computer, and BEING A MOM...stop writing fan fiction about it on some blog.
just another sign of what's wrong with America today.
I agree about the users being "off." NDAdancemom and Kristienne are two shining examples of crazypants "moms." I pray they are pretending to be ignorant and offensive but somehow I doubt it.
ReplyDeleteWow. I get up at 6 a.m. to do computer stuff because my kids don't get up until 7 a.m. and that's the only quiet time there is in my house. Judge much?
ReplyDeleteIf you're not a mom, I suggest you keep your opinions to yourself. Walk in my shoes for a day and then you have a right to complain..

ReplyDeleteI am a mom. So now your point is.....?

ReplyDeleteStop using "I'm a mom" as an excuse and you'll have a right to complain. Raising kids isn't easy but you chose to do it. You made your bed now lie in it and stop making excuses. Actions have consequences.
ReplyDeleteWe finally start building some solid, useful, rational online communities ... and then we shut them down.
ReplyDeleteI know MLM isn't all that big in scale, but this is a big deal. We really need to cultivate these kinds of hubs. They help us remain relevant to a demographic that may or may not care at all about the print product.
DISCLAIMER: I am not a mom, but I also get a lot done around my house at 6 a.m. before my kids wake up.
Who is Arazi?
ReplyDeleteBeen a part of GCI's community newspaper division since the 1990s. I'm still trying to be better and make my newspaper better.
ReplyDeleteMy handle probably should be "Pollyanna," but I'm not a girl.
Heh 3:20 Deal Chicken just passed one million dollars in sales. Not bad for a failure. Cluck you!
ReplyDeletesorry, i was stuck on the support end for a while, and the site's users are a little "off"....
ReplyDeleteIt would be 6am on a school/work day, and hundreds of calls would be flooding in because they couldn't post comments........
LMAO!! Yes, there were some odd ones floating around. None of us knew the magnitude until Gannett added the national feature though. I didn't even know you could call to complain, so not all of us were nutso's. ;)
Rolling at 7:23's "you chose to be a mom so do it and quit your bitching" attitude. On GANNETTBLOG. The land of complaining.
ReplyDeleteAnd there probably were hundreds of calls because things weren't working. And people were letting support know. You know, end users contacting IT for a problem. So get off YOUR arse and do your job -- fixing the problem. Without complaining.
@7:55am
ReplyDeletei did. i moved to a more sane company. problem solved.
Laugh now, but keep in mind moms have purchasing power. Gannett opted to ignore this important fact. DealChicken will NEVER be groupon.
ReplyDeleteSo posters fighting and trolling, caused the newspaper to shutdown the forums?
