Drove by the Newseum the other day, and it has a big blue banner outside saying "Newseum Celebrates Freedom". I guess that's freedom as in Freedom Forum, or feed 'em forum. The Canadian Embassy next door has posted a counter-banner with the logo: "Canada Celebrates 9/11." Somehow, I like the Canadian banner better.
p.s. But then I'm peculiar.

Uh-oh. Gannett shares are down 7.4 percent today, as of about 3:20. The market is down only 1 percent. Anyone know what's going on? Is Dubow dumping shares? Someone's selling.

For instance, among Midwestern newspapers, Des Moines already is being done at the studio, Sioux Falls starts there soon, and then St. Cloud is next in line. As far as I can tell, the goal still is to have all the sites being done at the various design studios by the end of 2012. So it's just a matter of where your site falls on that timeline.

Speaking of 10:02, Jim, it's time to keep an ear to the ground on The Freedom Forum and Newseum. Lots of ex-employees keep hearing that the new guy is going to shake things up and clear away some of the pricey hangers-on. Newseum visits are up, but not revenue because they have so many "kids get in free" and other offers. And keeping offices and big salaries in Nashville and SoDak make no sense when all that matters to survival is the Newseum. They will get a bump in 2012 on party space rentals by politicos and selling space to TV networks, but will it be enough?

So if the Des Moines pagination is now being done by a design studio ,does that not mean that there were layoffs in their own pagination staff?Nothing has been reported here,but then again the Iowa staffers have been largely quiet throughout the entire chaos that has been happening. No balls ,I guess.

Asbury Park's already begun. Five of the six NJ papers are paginated there now.

Why is corporate visiting all the sites? And why is everyone jumping through hoops for them? It is so ridiculous. The money and man power spent on these visits could be better utilized by paying their employees who are the ones who actually get things done!
It would be nice if we had an actual document that showed the timeline for each paper for the design hubs similar to what we had when the ad design was being sent to separate hubs.
