  1. In e-mails, I've already heard from readers who are recommending the Asbury Park Press and others in the New Jersey Group, as well as The Des Moines Register's.

  2. By far the Register's. For worst - The Journal News. Looks like a child designed it.

  3. I suppose the next really major Sept. 11 anniversary will be the 25th -- in 2026.

Yikes. I'll be 69 years old.

  4. The News Press for taking a different Approach and focusing on what matter. People.

I also liked Des Moines and Az Republic

Tenessean would have been good but that ad is killing me.

APP and the Jersey group should be ashamed. Just awful.

  5. westchester's is cliched, simplistic and lacks the sophistication of the readers in that market (no surprise there)... jersey's are incredibly tough to absorb feeling from. The squares look like kids' toys. On an important coverage day like this, huge blown opportunities to connect with readers. The chance to build an impression/memory was not taken advantage of.

  6. Wish I had time to look at 'em.

  7. I thought Westchester's front page was fabulous. Well done folks!

  8. Westchester's Sunday front page and coverage was extremely fabulous.

  9. Westchester justifiably takes a heavy dose of criticism on this blog, but its Sunday front page was as elegant as any of them. No need to hate for the hell of it. I would have stolen sister paper Poughkeepie's more sophisticated top-of-the-page treatment, however. Aren't they both produced in Harrison now?

Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."
