ReplyDeleteGannett's smallball, minor league mentality works well at small town shitkickers.its also where most of the crystal palace crowd is actually qualified to run. Dubow would do just fine in Butte, Montana. Dickey would be a superstar in Bismark.
ReplyDelete7:46 p.m.: You have it all wrong. Thing is -- once a person's survived Gannett life for any length of time, they're way more than capable of handling a normal workplace. It's like when a baseball player in the on-deck circle takes the weighted donut off his bat -- the thing feels light as a feather.
ReplyDeletePittman is right. If you want a Yes Man or Yes Woman to execute layoffs and other unpopular measures for your company without so much as a twinge of guilt, you can't find a better candidate than someone who has been successful in Gannett management.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what their version of the president's ring is.
ReplyDeletemaybe she'll start her first day singing and playing the guitar like she did for the OC in louisville
ReplyDeleteMeme to South Bend employees - prayer meetings start promptly at 8:00 am - do not dare to be late.
ReplyDeleteNo one anywhere puts on better dog and pony shows than a seasoned G A N N E T T manager.
ReplyDeleteG A N N E T T places a high value on ass-kissing, boot-licking, and double-talking skills. Those who can appear sincere while lying through their teeth are especially valued. And of course, BS skills are an absolute necessity.
Attention busines graduate school students: If you lack the above talents, please apply elsewhere.
Thanks Gannett, for all the management training ... then for laying me off!
