"She's really good friends with Oprah (Winfrey), so you have to think that maybe Oprah is helping her get through this."
-- People magazine's Joey Bartolomeo, speaking to USA Today, about the news today that Arnold Schwarzenegger had fathered a child with a household staffer while married to Maria Shriver. Not missing a celebrity beat, the paper's story also quotes an expert saying the scandal could boost the actor's brand as he re-enters show business.
Is there a story more tailor-made for USA Today than this one?
ReplyDeleteWSJ and NYT covered it too. Sorry Jim...this one is of interest.
ReplyDeleteTo be clear: It's a great story for everyone -- especially USAT.
ReplyDeleteNo matter who covers it, oddly enough I don't care about it. It's none of my business. I don't know these celebrities personally, and -- stop the presses! -- don't want to. What's to "celebrate" about them? Just more irrelevancy for the democracy, when the news hole could use more news.
ReplyDelete7:21 You can't deny Arnold got a lot of support in the polls from California voters. He put himself in that position, so must now take the consequences. I well remember the sincerity of his comments during one of those campaigns about how unfair it was for a woman to charge him with groping her.
ReplyDeleteLA Times sheer outrage:

All you Arnold detractors must have never seen him in Terminator or even better Terminator 2. You'd sing a different tune if you did.
