Palm Springs | All signs point to a GCI paper

[Desert Sun offices: Palm Springs, Calif., 3:58 p.m. PT today]

While visiting friends in South California, I got lost during a bike ride today, finding myself in front of The Desert Sun. Noted: The paper has already added, "A Gannett Newspaper'' -- in the correct, all-caps style -- to its sign on Gene Autry Trail. (See, arrow.)

  1. It's such good news that Gannett is spending money all over the country on signage. Maybe it will put some signmakers to work, though having employee furloughs pay for it kind of offsets that.

  2. This is not new. It has always had that underneath the desert sun logo

  3. Apparently this is old, isn't the new supposed to read A Gannett Company? Know what you are talking about before posting please!

  4. Yikes: I believe you all are correct.

  5. Contrary to popular myth, it appears that the Desert Sun's building is not shaped like a giant "G" (as for Gannett) from above.

  6. What a shock. Jim is wrong again about an assumption he made.

  7. Actually the tip if the building on the West side at the top is shaPed like a G. It's about 15 feet by 15 and you can see it from the air.

  8. "A Leading Media and Marketing Solutions Company" is the new tag. They might want to hire a few Marketing people to back-up that claim.

  9. Aren't you too old and fat to be at the White Party? Another Geezer in the desert --
looking for $$ for a business -- how predictable.
    Ciao Haters!

Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."
