USA Today appears to have just introduced a new Pluck software-powered comment posting form at the bottom of each story. It's very similar to the comment form on the new template for U.S. community newspapers -- bringing greater uniformity to Gannett's papers.
I like the new format, although one USAT reader (circled comment, above) has a very different opinion. "What's with this new posting format?" harrumphs our_commie_prez. "It bites!"
we pay over $2.5 million a year for the opportunity to use Pluck on all of our websites. TWO MILLION DOLLARS!!!! Oh and btw, Pluck is owned by....Demand Media!!!!
ReplyDelete9:43 p.m....Ouch! That's insane. Why can't the Gannett sites simply have their own?
ReplyDelete''Our Commie Prez" is a nutcase who "comments" all over the USAT site...He's the one who bites.
ReplyDeleteCommie Prez probably doesn't like it because it is easier now to block out people who abuse the comment section and post crudities and junk.

ReplyDeleteDefinitely like the agree/disagree counter. Right now all we have is 'recommend'.
ReplyDeleteI think it will help us show the fringe elements just how unappreciated their views are, and restore a sense of civility. Not actual civility, mind you, but if the community can shake their collective head at a racist/jerk/zealot, it might be the next best thing.
