  2. I didn't know him but I can only imagine how difficult this must be for his family and friends, as his passing comes right before Christmas.

  5. Out of respect for his family, I'm trying to keep this thread focused on Mark and his work.

  6. In the work sense, I knew Mark for his entire tenure at the RGJ. Always very professional, very focused in almost any crisis, and he excelled as a real "Old School" journalist. Sorry to learn of his passing.

  7. Mark was a really, really, really great person -- an editor who valued the balance between work and home life. It's been a decade since I worked for him, but he'll always stand out as a great guy and mentor.

Frank Mullen also did a fitting memorial story in Sunday's paper, http://www.rgj.com/article/20101226/NEWS/12260347.

  10. Mark was a very nice person. Working in another department, I didn't spend much time with him. People that worked closely with him are feeling a deep sense of loss. He did make a positive impact on many good people.
