The risks some readers take to keep us informed

"I would greatly appreciate your not posting this comment verbatim. I don't know how many people know what I know, and I know management reads the blog. I just don't want to get in some kind of trouble for sharing what I know."

-- A reader offering details in an e-mail about last week's layoff at their Midwest worksite.

  1. I'll admit I have thought of this from time to time myself. I have also thought of it when considering who My Boss is. I am sure that corporate would like to shut off some of the voices on this blog, and track down who some employees are who post here. But I have become risk-adverse. After threatening me with potential layoffs in the most pernicious way I know how, I really don't care if I leave this company because of a post or some supposedly random corporate layoff decision. The end result is the same.

  2. Ever notice how you don't see Jim and Gracia in the same place at the same time? It's very Clark Kent-ish....

  3. You'd think they'd have more important things to concern themselves with........like running the freakin' company!

Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."
