PointRoll | Saridakis hires ex-sales chief Harvey

Deann Harvey has been named chief sales officer for GSI Commerce's Global Marketing Services division, where former Gannett Chief Digital Officer Chris Saridakis is now CEO, the company announced today.

[Updated at 6:35 a.m. ET on Sept. 15 to clarify that Harvey's tenure at PointRoll ended last year.] Until April 2009, Harvey was senior vice president of global sales at PointRoll, Gannett's advertising services subsidiary. In that role, she oversaw global sales and marketing strategy, GSI's statement says.

Her new GSI post comes amid recent speculation that key PointRoll executives may leave the company following Saridakis' exit on April 30. He was named chief executive of GSI's marketing division two weeks before.

  2. Deann is great and we wish she was still with us at PointRoll. Rob Gatto is a slimeball and we prefer Deann.

  3. For the record Deann left Pointroll in April of 2009, 1 full year before Chris's departure from Gannett.

  5. I don't see the big deal if she left more than a year ago. Where's the story here????

  6. I am amazed at how much attention Saridakis still gets on this blog, but even more so in meetings across Gannett. He clearly had a big influence here in such a short period of time. This company is devoid of visionaries and people who are willing to speak out. We need more Saridakis's here as everyone is afraid to express their opinion for fear that they will get decapitated by the old timers running the show.

The hallways are buzzing about his hiring of Deanna Harvey, who appears to be really good, even though she left PointRoll a year ago. Clearly he brought Deanna into PointRoll, so it was only a matter of time he would bring her to his new company. That's how these guys operate. Unfortuntely for all these Gannett people like Josh Resnik and others that say they are still in contact with him, I doubt Saridakis will be calling anytime soon to join him.

  9. 4:04pm...AMEN.

Never met the guy, but clearly he has a following and from it sounds like, he is a winner. Who doesn't want to be with a winner??? Seriously. How many people wake up here everyday and say, "My CEO and Presidents are winners. I want to learn from them and be part of something BIG"? I bet not ONE of the FORTY THOUSAND employees say that.

We need to change out the entire management team here. It is a disaster. I wish I worked with Saridakis, because I think I am the type of person he would hire. I want to be with a winner and I am sure the people at Point Roll were fortunate to work with him and now join him at his next venture.

  11. Jason Tafler is a lame robot. He has no leadership skills and I think his entire management team dislikes him. He hired this consultant, Trish, who tells him who to fire every week.

He travels to our offices and tries to rally us up and we all fall asleep. Boring

I don't get all the Saradakis lovers. As far as his time at Gannett, he did next to nothing...zero! And yet he's look upon as the second coming of Ghandi. Take it easy people. Saradakis did about as much for Gannett as Lavington and Webber did for USAT. All three were complete non-factors! (although I'm sure in Saradakis' case, the inept management around him didn't help). In Lavington and Webber's case, THEY were the [XXXXX] management.
