Phoenix | Photog arrested in immigration protest

Dave Seibert, 53 (left), an Arizona Republic photographer since 1990, said Maricopa County Sheriff's Office deputies mistook him for a protester yesterday, handcuffed him for more than two hours, and took him through the booking process. He was later put in a holding cell with about a dozen other people for about 20 minutes, the paper says in a story. The sheriff's office then decided to release him without any charges, but he was warned they could have, the Republic said.

Controversial Sheriff Joe Arpaio is well-known for aggressive policing tactics, especially around immigration issues.

  1. So was he asked his citizenship status?

  2. Two pictures ran today, one in the NYT's, the other in the Arizona Republic, of the same woman being arrested, arms low behind her back, zip tied, pained expression on her face (police brutality will be claimed, for sure!). Perfect for the cameras and the swarm of media which, in these photos, appear to out number the protesters. Meanwhile, there is a morgue full of dead illegals in Tucson (200 at last count)... While it seems everyone is up in arms about race, racial profiling and one's citizenship status (what an inconvenience!) border crossers are being robbed, raped and left for dead in Arizona's sweltering desert by smugglers. Makes you wonder just whom or what the protesters really care about?

  3. 2:51. So you're telling us that smugglers are in the sweltering desert heat robbing, raping and leaving for dead the same illegals they are smuggling into Arizona?!! (Additionally, according to you, a substantial number of these illegals compose the 200 currently in the Tucson morgue). You don't happen to work for Andrew Breitbart, do you?

  4. In response to 7:37...

Yes, that is exactly the case! Smugglers do trek through the hot Arizona desert with their human cargo and when the going gets tough they leave them to die. Stories have run in the NYT's and AZ Republic.
Here's the most recent article to run about Tucson's morgue.

And no, I don't work for Andrew Breitbart. Don't know the man. I am a pressman in Phoenix.

  5. Another human smuggling story which ran in the AZ Republic...

And a recent plea to the Fed. from AZ's Attorney General (a Democrat, by the way)

  6. I live in Phoenix too and your initial post was loaded with BS. However, it is nice to see you're toning things down some and have deleted the part where the smugglers are robbing and raping their "human cargo" (before they leave them for dead) in the middle of the sweltering desert.

By the way, the articles you're linking in no way support your connection of 200 dead in a Tucson morgue with border crosser's being robbed, raped and left for dead in Arizona's sweltering desert by smugglers. Feel free to post those, I'm anxious to read about it...

  7. This is not hard 10:56... All you have to do is search AZCentral, the Arizona Republic's website.
This is just one. Be sure to read the entire article:

While I am not a reporter, I do read the newspaper and can infer by what is printed that these crimes do occur. Many illegal alien appologists (IMHO) have bitten down hard on the racial profiling angle, sadly, to the detriment of any other opinion.

If you want to parse my words, well, I can't keep you from that. However, I do hope you do a little searching. The stories are there if you choose to connect the dots.
