I've received two $5 contributions in the past 24 hours, from readers whose names I won't disclose (unless they tell me to).
One of them adds a helpful suggestion: "Feedback tends to produce feedback. So, each time you get a donation, you could post a thank you to anonymous. This will probably produce more donations."
So far in the current quarter, which ends June 30, I've earned $2,177, or 54% of my goal. The breakdown:
- Reader contributions: $1,404
- Advertising: $773
I'm trying to earn $4,000 quarterly, mostly through sponsorships of $5 per reader, plus limited ad sales. Please use the "Donate" tool in the green rail, upper right. Or mail cash/checks payable to: Jim Hopkins, 584 Castro St. #823, San Francisco, Calif., 94114-2594.

Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."
