Page One | Reporting an unwelcome oil strike

Three of Gannett's four Florida newspapers chose big play this morning for a story they'd been anticipating: the first evidence that the devastating Gulf oil spill had hit the state's shores. Hardest hit first: Pensacola, the western-most of Gannett's Florida markets. This environmental disaster is an unwelcome addition to economies still reeling from the real estate meltdown.
