The Indianapolis Star went all out this morning, in its above-the-flag promotion of an inside story about the new iPhone:

  1. Well, they were not alone in pumping the iPhone. 8 out of 10 news websites yesterday had the iPhone as the top story.

No wonder 90% of the population thinks the news media sucks.

  2. Terrible graphic: Too big, angle unpleasing ... and, really, covering the most significant letter of the flag with a glorified (probably free) ad for Apple?

Pop culture is not THAT newsworthy. Did the first oil-soaked pelican or dead Ridley sea turtle make the grade for that spot?

Gannett and the rest of modern journalism needs to re-examine the word "news" and return to old standards, if they want to keep regular readers.

  3. ENOUGH with the soaked pelicans already, also not news.

  4. Maybe for the Sea Lions it is.

Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."
