[This morning's Tennessean at Nashville shows flood's fury]
Tornadoes and torrential rain spun across several southern states last weekend killing at least 29 people in Tennessee, Mississippi and Kentucky. Employees can help 15 Gannett employees in the Nashville area who lost their homes and others who have suffered major property damage by donating to the Employee Disaster Assistance Fund. The Gannett Foundation approved a $25,000 disaster relief grant to the Nashville Red Cross.
Employees can make a donation, or buy "Gannett Colleagues Who Care" bracelets (minimum donation: $1) and G.I.V.E. cookbooks ($15 a piece) by using this secure, online site that allows for credit card purchases and donations.
Employees wanting to donate directly to the Gannett Employee Disaster Relief Fund can send checks made out to G.I.V.E./Lend-a-Hand to Kim Jaske, Gannett Co. 10th Floor, 7950 Jones Branch Dr., McLean, VA 22107-0150. (Please note "Disaster Relief Fund" on checks). Employees also can give checks to their local human resources representative, who will forward them to the fund.

Hello, Dubow!
ReplyDeleteThe Disaster Relief Fund would be an excellent place for current and former executives to send their annual $15,000 in Gannett Foundation set-aside money. Ditto for the company's board members, who control $10,000 each.
I think some staff in Jackson also lost their homes. Might be worth a mention on here if Gannett isn't going to send out a memo on it.
ReplyDeleteI have a much better idea: Why don't the newly elected ring winners donate their winnings to this disaster relief fund! I am sure a tidy sum would be collected instead of scraping together the last pennys of the worker bees. Combined with the Gannett Foundation money and the company's board members. But as usual, it's easier to ask the people with a heart.
ReplyDeleteCheap bastards. Each of the GMC receives15k to give to their favorite watering hole and these losers, like Dickey, Martore and Dubow should put all of the Gannett Foundation allocations toward these employees.
ReplyDeleteInstead Gracia will drive her Porsche, Dickey will attend an expensive golf outing and Dubow will have Gannett pay for a special driver to take him all over the town.
Let's see Carol Hudler fork over some cash too! And David Hunke who is a big bullshiter. Hey what about Craig Moon? Isn't he living in some trailer park mansion in Brentwood? Have him fork over some money too! Afterall, he still gets a multi-million dollar pension.
