Des Moines | Register schedules candidate debate, but two pols claim they weren't told in advance
Today's Des Moines Register carried a notice that the paper will jointly sponsor a candidate debate with NBC affiliate WHO-TV on May 25. But it appears not all of the candidates had confirmed or were even aware of the date prior to the official announcement, according to the Iowa Independent. "If there is ever another debate or forum sponsored by The Des Moines Register involving me, I would appreciate a telephone call before the event is published in the paper,” Tom Fiegen, an eastern Iowa attorney and candidate in the race, said in an e-mail to the Register’s editorial team, the Independent says.
