Murdoch confirms April launch of new WSJ section; in speech, he promises NYC edition 'will be feisty'

From a story just published on The Wall Street Journal's website, about News Corp. CEO Rupert Murdoch's plans to directly take on The New York Times, with implications for USA Today:

"The new section comes more than two years after News Corp. bought the Journal's parent company and set out to broaden the readership and advertising base of the paper to compete with general-interest national newspapers like the New York Times Co.'s flagship paper and Gannett Co.'s USA Today."

Murdoch (above) for the first time previewed the WSJ's nascent New York City edition in a speech today before the Real Estate Board of New York.

Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones.
