A few factual corrections to the blog post and the comments that followed:
- The CEO of Metromix reports to a board of directors, as most CEOs do.
- Jack Williams is an active Metromix board member.
- Metromix and Gannett are not "hunting for a Tribune replacement." Metromix is open to exploring prospective new partnerships and investor opportunities, as most early stage companies are.
- The spot check of Tribune markets missed the fact that Tribune’s largest Metromix site – Metromix Chicago -- continues to operate as it always has; it also continues to be the local entertainment site with the highest engagement metrics in the Chicago market.
- Regarding the statement, "all functions have been moved to Chicago," the central organization behind Metromix has always been based in Chicago.

Obviously, he likes pictures of drunk hotties.
ReplyDeleteWho wrote that email Jim...Kara Walsh the digital Diva in charge of Metromix? I haven't seen her around the office lately, in fact she spends most of her time traveling on vacation!!!
ReplyDeleteThere I no one involved in Metromix at Gannett. When was the last time you saw Metromix in a presentation from anyone at Gannett. I vaguely remember seeing a few references from the Digital Chief.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the input, Ms. Pence.
Seriously, I hope no one believes this crock of crap garbed in corporate-speak. Any competent business reporter would snort coffee out his or her nose upon reading the "open to exploring prospective new partnerships" line. A local company wouldn't get away with that line in the pages of a Gannett newspaper.
Last time I checked, Mr. Williams was responsible for the following disasters:
ReplyDelete1. Cars.com
2. Homefinder.com
3. Quadrant One
4. Metromix
5. Topix
6. Military Times
7. Gannett Healthcare
8. Clipper Magazine
I am sure there are many more, but since I was laid off last year, I have not been able to keep track.
Some of my friends at Gannett tell me he is creating a few new disasters like signing up Gannett with Yahoo to join the newspaper consortium and he is also in charge of the non-existent "paid content" program where Gannett plans to charge website visitors for local newspaper content.
Dude,
ReplyDeleteyou forgot one more...Content One has Jack WIlliam's DNA all over it!!!
