WKYC | Tipster reports TV pay cuts up to 20%

A reader who requests anonymity tells me the following, about WKYC, Gannett's NBC-affiliated TV station in Cleveland: "Today we were welcomed back from the New Year with packets of pretty huge pay cuts. Some people, almost 20%. They went against the union and our contract; we still have 18 months left on it. It’s going to get very, very ugly in Cleveland."

Can anyone confirm -- or add details? Is this happening at any other Gannett TV stations? Please post your replies in the comments section, below. To e-mail confidentially, write jimhopkins[at]gmail[dot-com]; see Tipsters Anonymous Policy in the rail, upper right.

Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."
