That's CEO Marcia Bullard, champion of the Sunday supplement's "Make a Difference Day" franchise. (She isn't publisher, as I was originally told.)
USA Weekend's staff was reduced last month -- with more cuts due in March -- when the title was merged into USA Today's features department, Politico said. That shift came as USAT reduced its own staff by 26 positions.
Can anyone confirm Bullard's status -- or add details? Please post your replies in the comments section, below. To e-mail confidentially, write jimhopkins[at]gmail[dot-com]; see Tipsters Anonymous Policy in the rail, upper right.

Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."

What about Chuck Gabrielson - the Publisher
ReplyDeleteThe staff was told she is retiring in March.
ReplyDeleteDon't know if it's true, but I worked for her in the 1990s. She was a terrific manager of people... smart and very committed to the product. That's a loss for Gannett. Probably had enough.
ReplyDelete"Retiring?" I hardly think so, as she was passionate and dedicated about her work and staff. Am sorry to hear that.
