Stock | Riding rally, shares beating S&P-500

Just four trading days into the New Year, shares in two companies I follow -- Gannett and the New York Times Co. -- have handily outperformed the widely watched S&P-500 index, according to closing prices moments ago. So far in 2010, the S&P is up 2.4%. Contrast that with the performance of:
