[Compared: Gannett vs. NYT vs. S&P; click image for bigger view]
Just four trading days into the New Year, shares in two companies I follow -- Gannett and the New York Times Co. -- have handily outperformed the widely watched S&P-500 index, according to closing prices moments ago. So far in 2010, the S&P is up 2.4%. Contrast that with the performance of:- Gannett: up 14%, closing today at $16.88
- New York Times Co.: up 15%, closing at $14.20

Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."
