When much larger national media outfits have struggled to get correspondents into Haiti, The News-Press in Florida's Fort Myers has not one, but two, staffers covering the devastation there. Reporter Rachel Revehl filed a video report via Skype from the island nation (above). Meanwhile, the paper's Andrew West is shooting photos. Here's the paper's online coverage, some of which is being contributed to USA Today's national coverage.Got a special effort to recommend? Please post your replies in the comments section, below. I wonder if the News-Press's "special relationship" to Kate Marymont has anything to do with that paper having the re$ource$ to send staffers to Haiti? Out here in Flyover Land, we can't afford to send a reporter 25 miles away to cover a major story.
ReplyDeleteit has NOTHING to do with Kate M. and everything to do with RR having a "special" relationship with others at the News-Press.
