In a second post today, the well-known MyBoss source has just posted the following:
1. USA Live will be shut down.
2. Tara Connell on vacation this week. She is leaving it up to the new corp comm chief to deal with this mess.
3. Rumor that a senior executive is leaving Gannett and might be related to Martore's company webcast next week.
I'm especially interested in item No. 3. For one, Chief Digital Officer Chris Saridakis has been on my mind for several weeks now.

Another "retirement?" Must be someone Martore doesn't get along with.
ReplyDeleteKate Marymont??????
ReplyDeleteCuz, um, where the hell has she been?????
Marymont has been talking to executive editors. The EEs from the top their of papers (was told about 30) will be meeting at corporate in mid-Sept. to discuss the future.
ReplyDeleteMarymont might as well retire, because it's painfully obvious that she's been relegated to obscurity. Stepping away now might preserve a shred of her professional reputation.
ReplyDeleteThe departing exec is of course, Jim. They're having a webcast to discuss it.
ReplyDeleteWe'll miss you big guy!
Nice job!
Have we ever seen an Executive step into obscurity without milking the company?????? Naaaa, we wait for the same old, same old "will retire", "starts their own business" or "simply get back to family roots". LOL!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat is USA Live?
ReplyDeleteSince we are leaderless, there is a power struggle. When and how that will end is unknown. Best guess is late July/early August. Probably not much later, since Wall St. won't tolerate. Sorry to say: no idea who or what will come out on top.
ReplyDeleteJim,
ReplyDeleteYou're AMAZING!! HOW are you keeping up with these posts??! THANK YOU!!
RE: Layoffs at different sites/total
Congressional members should be made aware of this action by Gannett...
Is Gannett laying off HUNDREDS of workers? Is it using a loophole ("state-by-state"- as opposed to their total national employee number?) to avoid legal employer responsibilities to specific states? So, now, the taxpayers of individual states cover loss of jobs, not Gannett.
Maybe now is the time to change laws so that this never happens again!
So sad but so...Rae.??

ReplyDeleteYeah, too bad you won't be around to see how it all turns out next week.
Or will you? Guess we'll see.
