Management may move the current layoffs into higher gear as soon as today. For that reason, I urge you to familiarize yourself with the format and comment forums on Gannettoid.com, the website available to you after this one closes. Depending on your time zone, you now have less than five days to say goodbye to each other here.

Thanks for everything, Jim. It's a shame you're doing away with the site. Though I no longer work for Gannett I like keeping up because I have friends who remain. You put the company on edge, and now there's one less watchdog and person keeping track of layoffs.
