Corporate just announced that Tara Connell's long-awaited replacement as vice president of Corporate communications is Robin Pence. From the press release:
"Pence has been in the communications profession for more than 20 years. Most recently, she led international communications for the global power company, AES. Pence’s past experience includes senior communications positions at Sprint and the Federal Communications Commission and, earlier in her career, she served as a Congressional press secretary."

ReplyDeleteOf course Gannett wouldn't hire an actual journalist to be the company's chief spokesperson. They hire a flack from a power company. She doubtless has had to use spin to explain all kinds of bad and incompetent behavior. That'll come in handy at Gannett.

ReplyDeleteThis is a total joke. I truly can't stand this company. If Tara proved one thing, she proved her previous position was totally unnecessary. Yet, here's Gannett dishing out another high salary in the Crystal Palace while the rest of us try to hold onto our meager paychecks. Gannett and those a-holes at USA Today keep rubbing salt into the many wounds.
ReplyDeleteJournalists, for the most part, don't have a clue on how to handle corporate communications. I've worked at four Fortune 500 companies in my career and not once did a journalist succeed in the CC job. It's a different world dealing with Wall Street everyday.
