Save the date I Second-quarter results out July 15

The company just issued the following statement, alerting Wall Street analysts:

Gannett Co. Inc. said today that its second-quarter 2009 earnings conference call with financial analysts will be held on Wednesday, July 15 at 10:00 a.m. ET. The call will be accessible live to the media and general public via Webcast and through a limited number of listen-only, dial-in conference lines.

The company’s earnings announcement will be released to news outlets and wire services before the market opens on July 15. Materials related to the call will be available at that time through the Investor Relations section of Gannett’s Web site, www.gannett.com.

Note: I will not be covering this call or the release. As previously mentioned, Gannett Blog will shut down permanently on July 10.

  1. I'm just guessing here, but I think they'll announce ad revenues continue their slide as does circulation both of which they're offsetting by eliminating 70% of their employees which they expect will help make the 3rd quarter numbers look better. All of the remaining employees will be awarded rings following their 3rd and 4th quarter furloughs during which time the papers will deliver the same paper on Mondays and Tuesdays, (repurposing), providing twice as many eyes for advertisers at a special rate as the Monday rate will be full price with Tuesday at half price.

In addition, following accolades received throughout the education industry, Gannett will send a press release announcing it's the best place to work in the world with a manager to employee ratio of 1:1.
