Program note: Anonymous comments now banned

As Seinfeld's George Costanza would say: I'm taking it up a notch, as I try to bring civility back to Gannett Blog in its final stretch. Comments now require registration. I won't see any of your personnel identification, however. And please note: Commenting here is a privilege -- not a right -- extended to you as a guest of my site.

  1. What an amazing way to cut through the chaff!
All that nasty bravado finally erased without monitoring.
    Love it. LOVE it.
I wonder, if we had this restriction early on if we could have been spared so much of the cruelty?
I think people would have emailed Jim personally instead of posting anon.

Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."
