In a move that had been anticipated, Anonymous@8:13 a.m. says in a fresh comment, "Presses have come to a stop in Fort Collins. Goodbye, dear friends, and good luck." Tomorrow's edition will be rolling off of a Denver Newspaper Agency press, 60 miles south.
"The mighty beast has ceased roaring,'' staff writer Kevin Duggan reports in a story on the Coloradoan's website.
Last night was bittersweet for the press crew working their final run. Ed Libra, who has worked 23 year for the Coloradoan, said he couldn't help feeling sad "because an era is coming to an end."

ReplyDeleteI've had the pleasure of working with these men and women for a decade and I am sitting here in tears after reading Duggan's story and seeing Mike's photos.
ReplyDeleteI just can't find the words to explain how much this hurts. Gannett was once a great company to work for, but now its not.
The blame game could go on forever, but what is important is the losses here. And not the company's losses, but the loss these people are facing and the loss felt by those left behind.
