Port Clinton | Newspaper offers to sell its building

News Herald building in Ohio's Port Clinton is now too big for the number of employees working there, and too expensive to operate, Publisher Cindy George-Bealer told the newspaper; she also is chief executive of its sister paper, The News-Messenger in Fremont. "When the building sells, the plan is to search for another local site for newspaper staff employees," she said.

  3. What a shame. At one time, both Port Clinton and Freemont were really good community newspapers.

The former publisher was a real journalist's journalist, the paper had independence, a voice, a staff (!!!) ....

    Now look at it...

Yep, being under gannett sure makes a newspaper fluorish.

So sad to see the fall of more community newspapers...

  4. While on the topic of selling buildings...

When is the Burlington (VT) Free Press going to put its large, prime location building up for sale? How much of that space is needed, or actually even being used? Four floors in a high-rent downtown shopping district.

Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones.
