  2. OMG! The Asbury Park Press is falling apart. The CN/HNT are managed by lunatics. The Daily Record is almost never heard from. Cherry Hill is a hotbed of discontent. No one seems to recall that Vineland even exists.
And there are no comments here! What's the story???

  4. Gee, what's the ME at the HNT/CN done today? Well, aside from writing one of those I-Me-My columns about how wonderful he is going to those meetings around towns (mostly in Somerset, of course) alienating people -- he's been berating his assignment editors for actually expecting the reporters to write stories. His excuse? It was a short week. Next week, it'll be because his dog p**d on his column

Gannett corporate isn't responsible for this poor excuse for a leader, per se. But he's a product of the Gannett system. He's apparently only worked for one company: Gannett

    Go figure.

  7. Cherry Hill is more than a hotbed of discontent, it is loaded with incompetent, ignorant people who have landed into management jobs because they did someone or had something on someone or by default. The person running the adv department is barely a high school graduate who can';t put a sentence together with proper grammar or thought. Oh my God, what a mess! Fewer and fewer ads and fewer and fewer pages and little content to interest anyone. The EE is a reject from other GAnnett properties and is here only bescause they (Gannett) has to keep him to meet diversity numbers.

  8. Vineland exists. We just don't have all the drama, hand-wringing and angst that others seem to have (speaking for the newsroom). Maybe it's because we're so small and we have a clearly defined mission. Maybe it's because we're so small that we don't expect much. Maybe it's just that upper management here treats everyone -- young and old, big and small, veterans and newbies -- like human beings. No corporate fans here, and, salaries and benefits being what they are, lots of us are hurting financially, and some are working second jobs, but everyone is in the same leaky skiff. Constant whining gets us nowhere.

Charlie Nutt must be proud of his little robot staff in Vineland. Just remember that he will be severely chastised if he doesn't make the majority of you scared and miserable. Save his job! Tremble a little. Also, is it true that Charlie lost another 75 pounds on the Jenny Craig diet? Amazing man!

  10. Hey Vineland, we've had your President and Publisher, and you are definitely lying!

  11. I think 10:34 may be Charlie Nutt.

  12. 10:34 isn't Charlie, just a grownup who appreciates being treated with some class and dignity and who has been around long enough to recognize it. Also, someone who is grateful that he is not working with the miserable lowlifes who revel in their own hate and loathing -- probably self-loathing -- and celebrate it by savaging Jim and anyone else who steps into their line of fire. I have worked in newsrooms like that, and I am quite thankful that this is not one of them.

Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."
