Signs of hard times: Corporate takes in boarders

Regarding unused space at the Gannett headquarters in suburban McLean, Va., Anonymous@8:52 p.m. said yesterday that about 150 Hilton hotels employees will be located temporarily for about three months in the Gannett Tower (left), starting early in May; they'll be housed in available office space on the third and fifth floors. Hilton is moving its headquarters staff to a new B.F. Saul-constructed office building, just south of Gannett's on Jones Branch Drive. "While Hilton's space is being prepared in that building, its employees need some temporary space and we are leasing them some of our unused space," @8:52's note says.

  1. About three months ago, I gave you a link to a McLean realtor offering Crystal Palace space for renters. Given that report today, they need every dime they can squeeze out of this operation.

  2. With a vast amount of free space available, this idea had been brought up to the Power at a lArge Jersey PaPer by several people at various times but there was always an excuse for not doing it

  3. Jim will stop by to give them a taste of his pressed fruit bowl and raisin loaf delicacies.

Word ver.: repri -- the tiny love fart emitted between Jim and Spanky.

  4. What happens to security in Crystal Palace now?

Will GCI offer Hilton employees gym memberships next?

Maybe Hilton can set up a job fair in the lobby to recruit GCI employees too.

  5. 4:56 - The rest of the Intranet post said that, yes, they'll get to use the gym and the cafeteria, and they'll have badges that say "Hilton" on them.

  6. Who cares if they use the gym? They probably have to pay for it, or Hilton pays for it, just like Gannett employees.

Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."
