Deanne Lane's contract at KSDK of St. Louis was due to expire next month, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch says, "and rumors had circulated that she was being asked to take a big pay cut if she were to stay."
Post-Dispatch columnist Deb Peterson continues: "When I reported March 20 that Lane’s contract wouldn't be renewed without the pay cut, and that Lane was balking, Lane called me to say those rumors were absolutely untrue. 'I have not and would not balk at any pay cut, especially in this economy,' she said at the time."

Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."

ReplyDeleteThe fact of the matter was that she was a glorified tele-prompter reader who was not really pulling her own weight around the station.
ReplyDeleteIt sucks when anybody has to be laid off, but she was all drama the final couple months. Co-workers tend to notice these things, like when she mysteriously "got sick" the week of the inauguration and wouldn't come to work?
Loyalty once again has been snubbed. Her work within the community has been outstanding and her on the air presence has been truly professional. Unlike so many of the phonies remaining. Hopefully, She'll join us as regular viewers on another outlet soon. Damon
