  1. I hear Ken Paulson has some qualifications in this area and has recently hung out his shingle as a hedge against losing his sweet deal at the Fiefdom Forum.

  2. Male attorneys who respond should wear their anal guards.

  3. Is there such a thing as a "First Amendment" attorney? I don't recall seeing that category in the hundreds of Yellow Book entries.

Another weak attempt by Jim to play the role of crusader.

  4. Yeah, 11:00, I guess that's why there's no Web site for an organizaton of "First Amendment Attorneys."

    Oh, wait, there is.

  6. So Jim is again crying for info that is available on the Web? Two days in a row for that one. What a reporter he must have been. I can just imagine him standing up in the newsroom with tears streaming, as he shouts: "Can anyone give me this info?" Priceless.

Also, I wouldn't have much faith in that FALA group, based on this sentence at the Web site:

"The First Amendment Lawyers Association is an Illionis-based, incorporated, not-for-profit association."

    Illionis. Great.

  7. "they only like yes men."

Jim likes yes men. Except when he's playing hard-to-get or feeling a little saucy.

  8. Ofcourse there are First Amendment attorneys. Geez guys, don't you know anything about the business of media - your media, a la newspapers and broadcast stations? Barbara Wall is our in-house first amendment guru and has been for many years. But then again, this is one of the reasons why I adore this blog. This is the kind of information we assume everyone knows but Gannett hasn't ever wanted to do a good job of allowing us to know or understand what happens outside our own personal prisons, oops I mean business units. I've learned more about newspaper operations from this blog than any other source ever provided by Gannett. Circulation carriers, copy desk editors, ad make-up, not-for-profit operational rules (Gannett Foundation) and on and on. This blog rocks!! Go Jim!!

So management is responsible for your ignorance? Classic denial.

  11. How is it that you don't know any attorneys with First Amendment expertise after all your years as a "journalist"?

  12. Maybe the pro-corporate trolls could cool it with the homophobic stuff? I realize that it's one hundred percent in line with the way you're used to doing business, but this isn't Gannett, it's the Gannett Blog...

Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."
