  1. When is the DR moving from its leased space on Jefferson Road to the new leased space on Centruyt Drive? Is it less office space?

  2. "NEW JERSEY ROCKS"

  3. "the earlier blogger who commented on the CP's advertising people is right on. That dept is such a joke as has been reported here many times. There are many "hangers on" who've been there way too long, don't do much of anything except spend great amounts of time on personal affairs, gossip and planning out the daily lunch menu. and managers?? way too many who should have gone a long time ago but are kept around because they're buddies with the AD who hired these losers. It just keeps on and on and on. When is publisher Lafferty going to do something about this jumbled mess??? The bigger question is why has he not done something? There are lots of thoughts about that in our building. He needs to grow a set and take some action to get rid of anyone in that dept who is not bringing in revenue to cover overhead. Well the party planning, gossip, personal phone calls, doing personal stuff will keep on going won't it Walt?"

    so true!
not to mention the manager of the
art department is a complete tool.
he knows what going on but allows
it to happen cause the gossip
queens kiss his ass daily. they
chit chat on their cell phones,
brag about their kids and talk trash about people all day long.
most of the workers in the
    advertising art department are
    worthless. the manager being
    one of them.

  4. 11:15 am has again summed up the situation at the Courier post. Everyone else in the company has to carry their own weight by justifying their salaries by being productive and that is not a bad thing to require of people. but the advertising department seems to have some kind of special dispensation as they are treated like primadonnas. There are a great number of the people who truly don't earn their keep by bringing in dollars to cover their salaries and bring profit to the company. It's so obvious! One day recnetly during the work week when I was off I ran into one of the "sales managers" outside doing personal stuff during the business day and it wasnt lunch tiome either Nothing new it's been going on for years. Was walkng through retail sales the other day and overheard and saw one of the "sales associate-secretaries" on the phone talking about this persons kids and sports and church stuff on the cmpany time. Again nothing new. That same morning I watched another one soliciting lunch orders, again on company time. It just makes you sick. It's like a country club headed up and supported by top management. Here we see many co workers who have lost their jobs while the survivors have to pick up the slack yet this crap goes on and on in this part of the newspaper. Why?

  7. Is Boris Karloff on forlough or is one byline a week the norm? The DR's gotta fill that white space around the ads ya know!

  8. 11:15 AM--- You guys have been referring to the Courier Post??
It could all, for the most part, be written about the CN/HNT.

The CN today on Page A-3 contains the usual Philadelphia-centered musings of an assistant editor who simply cannot write. It is proven twice a week! How far do we allow affirmative action to go?

Fittingly, an in-column piece appears right to the left detailing the arrest of a man for public urination-- another fixation of the CN!!!

  9. Anything new on the building issue? Have the hard-hitting reporters finally uncovered something?

    ReplyDelete
  10. What about the HNT reporter, who's barely able to crank out two or three bylines a week, who is now freelancing for the Star-Ledger, while continuing to work for HNT???

Anything new on the now infamous violators of "company car policy"??? Who were these folks and how did they get away with it???

  11. Affirmative action and imcompetence go very far with Gannett: the courierpost EE was driven out of Nashville and exiled to cherry hill rather than getting rid of him. This is the dumbing down of Gannett and America. Remember the fall of the Roman Empire from your history classes in high school? Here we go again.

  12. I can't f'n believe you just compared Gannett to the Roman Empire. Get over yourselves.

  13. Yeah 5:51: They've uncovered that you're a dick.

The story will be the Monday CP, along with video and a narrated photo gallery.

Hey douchebag, why don't you go up to the investigative team and ask them, face to face, to look into it? Why? Because you don't have the balls to, that's why.

  14. That March Mania stuff from Content One must come in handy. C-N didn't hold its deadlines to get the Villanova-Pitt result into print.

  15. Hey 9:34, %;36 is not comparing Gannett to the Roman Empire, rather, this country to the fall of the former Roman Empire because of all of the dumbing down, entitlements and other practices whoch are ruining our society.

  16. Jim, you should change the heading for these posts from "Jersey Confidential" to "Whiny Pussy Confidential."

No. The hard-hitting reporters don't have the balls to do the story.

Learn that and recite it as necessary. Try not to be stupid every day of your life.

  20. Is there any reason Jim that this Jersey Confidential is positioned so far down on the page it is hard to find? It's one thing to separate it from the regular post but positioning it below your 'important posts' is offensive.

  21. Sorry about that, 10:28 pm. No slight intended; it's been a busy day. I just moved it up.

  22. "Dont you guys get it they cant do a story like that so give it up"

But they're hard-hitting reporters and First Amendment defenders! This is a story that needs to be told.

Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."
