    6 months to a year.

  4. I say whenever HNT's lease runs out.

  5. Does anyone know when Morristown moves its operation out of the big house? Where are you moving to and how much space are you renting?

  6. That kind of consolidation will never happen. First, they won't pay the mileage from Neptune to, say, New Brunswick.

Second, it would be a logistical nightmare.

  7. may be everyone can work from home...ad reps could do that!

  8. you cant get people to work at
the courier post wile in the office.

    could you imagine if they
    worked from home?

    how would they gossip
    and brag about their kids?

  9. They'll eventually consolidate all of the New Jersey papers into one. Just wait. It will happen. They'll shutter all the main offices save three - Neptune, the CP building and possibly one more.

  10. who says anything about paying mileage to Neptune? If that's where you work, that's where you work, and no matter where you live that becomes your commuting destination. so, it becomes a hidden pay cut because your commuting costs likely go up ... logistically, it would be a piece of cake to make this happen with the infrastructure that already exists in NJ ... watch out

  11. 12:31: Rumor has it the DR plans to move in June.

From a DR brief on the deal:

PARSIPPANY -- Mack-Cali Realty Corporation announced the lease transactions totaling 109,873 square feet at its properties in New Jersey. In Morris County, the Daily Record has signed a 17,374-square-foot lease at 6 Century Drive in Parsippany with a five-year, two-month term.

  12. ALL of the now-leased locations will remain AS IS. They will become BUREAUS instead of daily newspapers.

  13. 3:27 ... I was responding to 11:50 am's comment that everyone would probably be moved to Neptune.

By paying mileage, I meant they would not pay the mileage for a reporter to travel from Neptune to New Brunswick for a story. For a story, not for basic commutation. You couldn't have figured that out? Jesus Christ, no wonder this company is in the shitter.

Holy Shit, man-- you sure made anyone who couldn't figure out that comment look like an asshole.
You know that everyone else here is a freakin' moron. I mean they are jackasses and dicks from management on down to your level.
Thanks for taking the freakin' time to express yourself so beautifully. I hate my fourth grader translate what I wanted to say here and then washed out his freakin' little mouth with soap!

  16. On Fridays the Courier News devotes its Community Life page to "School News" -- college graduations, dean's list, local school briefs.

One brief talks about a student receiving an award for "superior academic achievement as well as demonstrated leadership in the campus community." Guess what? The brief doesn't say what college he goes to.

But wait ... there's more! Six other briefs ID the colleges but don't bother to include where they are located.

  18. the courier post has deteriorated and dumbed down in part since the arrival of Gannett loser EJ Mitchell who (Gannett) they dumped into Cherry Hill because they "had to keep" him even after he ruined Nashville. And, the earlier blogger who commented on the CP's advertising people is right on. That dept is such a joke as has been reported here many times. There are many "hangers on" who've been there way too long, don't do much of anything except spend great amounts of time on personal affairs, gossip and planning out the daily lunch menu. and managers?? way too many who should have gone a long time ago but are kept around because they're buddies with the AD who hired these losers. It just keeps on and on and on. When is publisher Lafferty going to do something about this jumbled mess??? The bigger question is why has he not done something? There are lots of thoughts about that in our building. He needs to grow a set and take some action to get rid of anyone in that dept who is not bringing in revenue to cover overhead. Well the party planning, gossip, personal phone calls, doing personal stuff will keep on going won't it Walt?

  19. An employee at the credit union that was associated with the APP expressed surprise at the steady stream of ex-employees who want to get their pension money away from Gannett. They don't care where it goes, just get it away from the company.

Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."
