Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."

So, New Jersey, any big announcements? Anybody hear anything, or was the rumor mill just that?
ReplyDeleteSorry if old news... interesting website... http://graphicdesignr.net/papercuts/
ReplyDeleteAll i have to say is
ReplyDelete"NEW JERSEY ROCKS "
BUT THE PAPERS ALL SUCK!!!
A furloughing we will go.
ReplyDeleteWonder what Craig means by "higher salaried" employees. Hopefully, he's talking about those who make more than $80k or $90k.
Wow - This hurts. love their "let them eat cake comment" you can borrow from your 401K. Thanks for the suggestion Craig
ReplyDeleteGee, how many employee's at the APP are going to hit that 90K mark??
ReplyDeleteWhat was in the fine, fine, fine print about the demise of the circulation dept.? Come on NJ rocks, fill us in!!!
I GOT THE SCOOP ! IM SAFE I ONLY MAKE $89,000 IM SAVED !!! "N.J.R"
ReplyDeleteHey NJR, your base may be 89K but those bonuses put you over the edge. Besides, you can use 2weeks off and the start your regular vacation. Hell, we may not see you till next year!!!
ReplyDeleteSince I have been ditched by Gannett and still remain a stockholder (not quit sure how this occurred) I have had a chance to do what I hae wanted to do for over twenty years, VOTE NO on the selection of the Ganneet Board of Directors. This indicates disapproval of their AIG-stype salary and bonuses. If you've been fired and received the prxy notice, vote the way you feel. There is nothing they can do to us now.
ReplyDeleteI voted that way and I'm a current employee. Go ahead, let them hold it against me. It's my vote, my opinion and if they didn't want my say they shouldn't have allowed me to say it.
ReplyDeleteMany people continue to question why Gannett keeps around retail ad sales reps who are not making their objectives by such a large margin, especially some who've been around for years and have very high base salaries but next to nothing to bring in enough to cover those ridiculous salaries? Why why why?
ReplyDeleteTo Everyone on this blog from NJ:
ReplyDeleteDon't neglect to go to the regular blog and see what is transpiring.
In so many ways, we could be saying: "WE TOLD YOU SO"!!!
While Jim says he loves us, being stuck in this part of the blog still makes us one step above the crap pile of Corporate!
Is top of scale pay for reporters the same at all Gannett NJ papers? If not, I would guess APP reporters at top of scale earn more than any other GNJ papers -- I am just guessing though. APP top of scale is north of $70K? How about HNT and CN?
