What I'm doing right now
6:35 p.m., San Francisco time: finishing a Twitter post. The free text-message broadcast service works as my back-up in case Blogger software has a major outage. Please join me there.

Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."

At 37 I'm too old to give a hoot when somebody else takes a dump and wipes from left to right instead of up and down.
ReplyDeleteI'll let the whippersnappers twitter. Otherwise it's just more noise and I have plenty of that already.
Sounds like someone preparing to close a newspaper to me.
ReplyDeleteYou're only a journalist, why bother doing some basic research into what Twitter is and what it is actually used for before writing it off?
Check out www.twitter.com/coloneltribune to see what good newspaper people do.
Twitter is not a reasonable backup for a blog. In case yypu didn't notice you are only limited to 140 characters.
ReplyDelete6:18: No wonder this industry is dying. You are exactly the type of dinosaur who can't look forward and listen to what the younger generation "or whippersnappers" (<---that seriously dates you) do, say or think.
