"Keep it up, Hopkins. Keep being the Pied Piper, and leading these suckers down the ruined cobblestone streets of their careers.
Gannett Blog is really no better than some
good old-fashioned yellow journalism."

Oooh ooh, can I say it first?!?
ReplyDelete"Thanks for stopping by, Craig ..."
Hopkins and his blog didn't end my career; Gannett did when it permanently furloughed me in December. This blog helped me to realize that I wasn't alone and that it was time to steer clear from ever working for a newspaper company again. Thank you.

ReplyDeleteYeah, right. I got outed from Gannett in August and found a job making $5k more annually, a great working environment with much better health benefits, more vacation time, and better 401-k plan within 10 weeks of my departure.
Folks - there's opportunity out there, and working for a large company like Gannett opens some doors at places looking for experienced people - believe it or not. It's not all doom and gloom.
My 22 years at Gannett ended in Aug. with me questioning myself on what I could have done better but after reading this blog for awhile it made me realize that most Gannett managers are very insecure nationwide and in general it is a very evil run organization, this blog is great! Thank you Mr. Hopkins.
ReplyDeleteMan, I hate Gannett.
ReplyDeleteEver hear of self-fulfilling prophesy? Keep negative and speculating on all the ways Gannett can cut our pay and benefits. Give them some good ideas.
ReplyDeleteWhy are people always picking on yellow journalism? Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't the yellow journalism era, a time when newspapers were vibrant and growing?
ReplyDeleteMaybe, we could, you know, learn something?
I like David's idea... now if the Spanish would just blow something up for us.....
ReplyDeletewhy is it so many that have been laid off continue to come back to this blog? Don't you just move on when you are no longer with the company? I know I would/will if/when that day comes.
