A few months ago, my former CN/Gannett NJ colleagues began heavily using LinkedIn. I did LinkedIn initially because my daughter insisted and then I found all this activity going on. I am retired, so it means less to me than to younger reporters. I currently have a mostly news blog about the city I formerly covered and I feel bad for those younger writers who need to make a living for many more years before hitting senior status.
