What a Wall Street analyst learned on this blog

Hint: It's about yesterday's Ripple6 deal, Chief Digital Officer Chris Saridakis -- and those curious multimillion-dollar payments.

  1. Any Wall Street analyst who covers Gannett and doesn't frequent this blog isn't doing their job.

Glad to see some are using it as it will help them cut through a lot of the corporate BS as well as get a better sense of what's going on beyond what's formally shared.

  2. I'd love to watch this video.
    I can't, technical difficulties.
To be more precise, READING makes no noise. Watching a video blog post does. Maybe when I get Home.
    Hint hint.

  3. I like to go to a co-workers desk, pick up his/her phone, direct dial the publisher and play Jim's videos into the phone.
    What a gas!

  4. You are all so mature. You must be a bunch of worn out journalists gone wild.

Woohoo...let's prank each other all day and bitch about how bad the company is on Jim's "the homo's" blog.

Btw..."The homo's blog" is a phrase many people in Cherry Hill use to describe Jim's blog!
Just quoting the morons in NJ.

  5. I have heard there is a big shae-up in the executive ranks coming real soon.

Part of it is Tara Connell taking on a new role. Apparently, she has been demoted.

    Has anyone heard this?

  6. Why would the Ripple6 thing be news to the stock analyst if it was in the proxy materials?

  7. Gannett reported yesterday's Ripple6 deal in a press release -- not in last spring's proxy report.

What the analyst learned from this blog was Saridakis' role in the deal.

(Last spring's proxy report only described the $2.2 million Gannett-Ripple6 contract, and Saridakis' 10% stake in the technology start-up.)

  8. On any management shake-up at Corporate: That's news to me, including speculation about what may have happened to chief spokeswoman Tara Connell.

In any case, Corporate is in the midst of its own buyouts; assuming those have been granted, there would inevitably be a shift in responsibilities among those left behind. Please see the following original post about that Corporate buyout: http://tinyurl.com/5z27h2

Funny...I work in Cherry Hill and I've never heard it referred to in that way. I have heard, though, that some of the "Boys Club" higher ups who jumped to the Inquirer use this blog to put the Cherry Hill crew down. So apparently you're working JUST as hard over there than you did when you were over here.

  10. I know a lot of people that are familiar with Jim's blog and never heard anyone call it that either.

  11. Jim, a suggestion: The Saridakis piece in a quality story on its own. Did you ever think of taking something you develop off this blog and sell it as a freelancer piece. You did something similar a month ago that I thought would be a general interest article. Just a thought, since I suspect you won't make it on contributions alone.
P.S. See this piece on crowdfunding. Another way of perhaps raising money:

  12. I don't know about Tara being demoted, but she's coming with Dubow and Dickey to Brevard and Fort Myers.

  13. Jim: Work on keeping eye contact with the camera. You will look more convincing and engaging. And keep up the great work!

  15. Can you add in a weather report? I heard via KQED that it was record highs yesterday in your part of the country.

Here in frozen tundra land, we're looking at a high of 36 and flurries...

  16. Mystery analyst: Jesus FREAKING Christ! You learn about Ripple6/ Saridakis from this BLOG? Because you are too busy/stupid/misguided/lazy/ADD to read to graph 8 in the press release? Holy shit! Folks, this is someone who is making buy/sell recommendations on public companies. And we wonder why Wall Street is in trouble? This "analyst" probably also believes Jim's decidedly non-journalistic spin about the news being buried "deep" in the press release, like it was in secret code or in invisible ink ala National Treasure. Obviously, the story of Saridakis and business dealings is worth covering. The idea that this was somehow hushed up because most people have forgotten to READ is not. Kinda reminds me of my kids complaining that I "hid" their clothes because I hung them in the closet.

Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."
