Case study: What one paper's layoff plan reveals

The newspaper is in an especially weak market, so bear that in mind when I tell you that Corporate has OK'd its plan to lay off at least 10% of its employees, a reader tells me.

Spokeswoman Tara Connell has said that the planned 10% workforce reduction in the 30,000-employee newspaper division will result in "significantly less" than 3,000 people getting laid off. But the early examples I've found all involved cuts of 10% or more.
