On the late John Walter, a USA Today founder

"He believed in truth,
that people have a right to know things.''

-- his wife, Jan Pogue of Edgartown, Mass., in an interview with the Boston Globe. Walter, 61, died Thursday at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Mass., from complications after surgery for a facial nerve disorder. (Another good obit here.)

  2. John never would have had time to join the juvenile bitch sessions here. More than likely he would have visited this blog once out of curiosity, saw what it was about, and decided it wasn't for him. He was too busy trying to make things better for an industry he loved.
