Hello, chief? Max, here! You'll never believe this!

Mail often brings surprises. But few cone-of-silence notes rival two that just got thrown over the transom -- a pair of jaw-droppers (but not bad news!) that obligate me to remind you again about the secret world of Gannett Blog.

  3. You should replace the Maxwell Smart picture with a picture of a little girl. The caption should be "I know something you don't know - naa naa na na naaa naaa."

It's nice to see that you feel obliged to let everyone know that you have bad news that we don't have. It must feel good to rub into everyone's face.

  4. I suggest you all be patient as Jim works out whether things are credible with whatever he knows or heard. Anyone following the blog, or paying attention and analyzing the recent layoffs, knows there is something else coming. I think Jim has gone way above and beyond his commitment to GCI employees in keeping them informed of what he knows. Now is not the time to beat the guy up because he wants to check his source. I, for one, appreciate it.

  6. Check your source but don't waste our time on speculation. I agree with 4:55 pm.

  8. You're drawing the wrong conclusions! I never said it was bad news. It's not layoffs. That would be cruel! It's just stuff that I can't report yet. (This comment was delayed because I only now just arrived home in Ibiza.)

  9. Gives you a good idea of the mood in the industry though, doesn't it?

Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."
