Monday Recap: Something stinks in Nashville!

Posts you might have missed last week, while the good times rolled in Des Moines:
  • Short-timer? The Courier-Journal's new publisher is 67, an age that raises questions about his tenure there.
  • Chop, chop, chop: New budget cuts hint at the possibility of big job losses across Gannett.
  • Sweatin' bullets: The forecast high today in Nashville is 86 degrees. How's that air conditioner repair coming along?

    All,

I wanted to give everyone an update on where we are in our efforts to bring more cool air back to The Tennessean.
Obviously the weather finally worked in our favor. The cooler temps and low humidity have made it more comfortable in many areas of our building.

Our repair efforts on the chiller are going well. The repair company is putting the chiller back together as I write this note. Once reassembled, they have to put it under pressure to make sure it’s not leaking and then they must pull a vacuum on the chiller to clear the system and allow us to pump our Freon back into the chiller.
This chiller unit holds 1860 pounds of Freon. To put that number in perspective, most homes have AC units that hold between 6 and 15 pounds of Freon!

Barring any unexpected issues, by this time next week we’ll be back to full cooling power.

    Thank you for your patience,
