Reader: Bosses absent, Cherry Hill parties 'a joke'

Regarding farewell parties given today for Courier-Post employees taking buyouts, a reader says: "The publisher and executive editor missing in action. The managing editor delivering delicious platitudes. One of the retirees referred to one of his colleagues, denied the buyout. Another was absent attending a farewell party arranged by the people she covers. The third was given presents, including a $20 gift certificate. She will probably spend $5 in gas driving to the mall to redeem the certificate. But she's been subsidizing Gannett for decades by accepting the 25 cents per mile the company grants its employees who work and drive."

Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."
