2:14, that's not necessarily true. I work at the CP and got into a vigorous argument with my boss to the point where HR was needed. I was not fired, but talked to. I now have more respect for my boss and I believe they have more respect for me. Not because of "drinking the koolaid" but because things were explained, discussed and a solution was met. Don't scare the folks on this blog thinking they'll get fired for speaking their mind, it doesn't always happen. The thing they should remember, however, is there is a time and place for it.

BS. ive worked for the CP for 13
years. you must be in
middle management kissing ass.
their are NO managers you can
respect at the CP.
12:05 -you're just an idiot... Not sure who 9:14's boss is, but my boss will let me speak my peace as long as it is behind closed doors and not out in the open. And i do say what is on my mind and when i leave it is over.
ReplyDelete^nice name calling^
ReplyDeleteeveryone is entitled to
their opinion.
true and in my opinion you are an idiot. Just tired of the CP extremes comments. Like everywhere else there are good people and bad people whether workers or managers.
ReplyDeletewhere is EJ?

keep on truckin!

ReplyDeleteWOW - and your still an idiot.
Don't know about other Gannett properties, but as a 10+ employee I can say for certain that the morons in management at the Courier-Post don't want to hear anything from employees down the chain. If you do speak your mind, behind doors or in the open, you are black listed and doomed as a "troublemaker." This is especially true in the advertising department where the director there is a nasty and self serving jerk. She "worked" her way up to this job and the present publisher is stuck with her but no one can figure out why...unless. This "nasty culture" is expected to be the practice of everyone reporting to this incompetent out of touch director who keeps people around who yes her to death and don't dare use their brains. Bad place to work? YOu bet!!! Unless you're an asskisser you're out
ReplyDeleteSo much for the "consolidation" plan to move all page production to the APP. The DR is definitely getting Harris terminals installed in the new building -- after half the staff gets let go on June 1.
ReplyDeleteWHO IS EJ ?
ReplyDeleteMy question is:
ReplyDeleteWhere the heck is RK?
1:23 - I don't work in advertising so can't speak to your frustration, but not like that in the department where I work.
ReplyDeleteWho is RK-- from what paper?
ReplyDeleteanother 10+ employee checking in.
ReplyDeleteits true, if you stand up for
your self at the CP your labeled
a "trouble maker"
even if the issue wasn't your fault.

ReplyDeletethats exactly how it is at
the courier post.
It is true! There is no respect for employees at the cp. People are treated with contempt by the snakes that run the place. There is no one in the management at that property that understands or cares about respecting employees. They enjoy keeping people down and denigrading people whenever they can. If an employee is deemed as someone rfespected by other employees the scumbags in managment will begin a campaign to discredit that person. They don't want anyone (below management) to appear smarter than them. The morale here is horrendous and most people I know are just waiting things out to get the hell out of this crappy place. and to 9:14 PM, your experience is unusual if not impossibnle. YOu msut have something on your boss or your boss needs to use you some more before you are screwed.
ReplyDeleteWell 1:23 if you ever had anything positive to say maybe someone would listen to you. But like your many negative buddies you sit on your ass all day and rip people on this blog. Yeah, I want to hear what you have to say, NOTTTTTTTTTTTT.
ReplyDeleteI am on furlough this week and I still can't stand the thought of working next to a someone like you.
What are the "rules of a crappy column"? All this explaining of how a newspaper works is getting boorrriiing....writing about printing errors, in a column that has a proof reading error, hilarious!! This is what I call dumbing down of the readers. & it ain't working. Honestly, who reads this shit, excepting me for obvious reasons...lol.

ReplyDeleteso true.
3:59 - here here. am right there with you!
ReplyDelete1:59 PM: Are you referring to Roscoe Kolabobkowski who worked at the HNT? If so, he is a managing editor at the NY Times.
ReplyDeleteIf 3:59 is on furlough then why are you on this blog when you aren't supposed to be doing any work duirng the furlough??? It's apparent you are one of the koolaid drinkers who has probably been asked to post on this blog.

Hmmm... I believe this blog is not runned by GCI, but by Jim Hopkins of San Fran, CA. This is not work related. Actually referring to this blog at work can get you out of work, (out the door) ;) Would'nt you think? Remember you can do what you want on furlough, that's not work related & this is not related to or paid by GCI.
10:23 PM
ReplyDeleteThe fact that you think reading this blog is "work" and should not be done during furlough is hilarious. It's apparent you are... clueless. And paranoid to boot if you think 3:59 is a koolaid drinker who has been asked by corporate to post on this blog. Ha-ha-ha. Made me laugh.
