Is Gannett CFO Martore now eating her young?

Reports of widespread layoffs today include deep cuts on Gannett's accounting side, where a reader says as many as 13 controllers got pink slips. Their chain of command rises up the company's business side, run by Chief Financial Officer Gracia Martore (left), appointed in January 2003. Martore is now so powerful, some of my readers say she's become Gannett's de facto CEO.
