Spain, with music and Web access on my mind

Sparky and I leave Saturday for a summer-long visit to the Mediterranean island of Ibiza, where I'll blog and take Spanish classes (when we aren't goofing off, of course). Internet access isn't included at our condo, so we're planning on getting air cards with three-month service plans.

Got a better Web-access suggestion we can pursue? Leave a note in the comments section, below. Or e-mail it confidentially, using this link from a non-work computer.

That's a photo shot by Flickr member chillntravel, showing the famous Cafe del Mar on Ibiza, where people watch sunsets while listening to trippy music -- like this, from SuperTrance Vol. 2:

  2. You know, you've got a good thing going with Gannett Blog. It's a good thing. But have you just thought about going on hiatus? Would it be so bad to pack up the Internet for a summer and just leave it behind?

When I go away for a week with no Internet, my whole thought patterns - with the assault of millions of opinions and so much clutter just turned off - seem to magically clear. I can't imagine what three months would do.

It's remarkably easy to do without the Internet. Besides, Gannett will still be here when you get back...uh, I think.

  3. I'd shut it down and let the Gannett cronies wonder what comes next when Jim returns. The media industry is in shambles...only a matter of what new buyouts with what firm.

All of that talent lost. It is hard to believe.

Jim, go have a nice Long Island ice tea. Read the new Pat Buchanan book out...just on CNN...and relax.

  4. Look for me at that club. I like anything that is trippy!

Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."
