Think your newspaper is too big to fail?

Think again.

  1. Keep in mind that The Strib was severely handicapped by having Keith Moyer as its publisher before the sale. Not exactly the guy I would want running anything more complicated than the lemonade stand across the street from a garage sale.

  2. Jim,
Do you know if any of the Gannett CEOs and upper management read this blog? They should! They'd really know how their employees feel about the company. We now know the inside of this secret circle. And I bet that pisses them off! We know of their incompetence and greed. And they probably wish they could silence you and get rid of this site. How have goten any threats from them?

I actually stumbled onto this site a few months back, when I heard about ad production going to 2AdPro. Thanks to you, I was able to get the valid
information I needed to know as the management would play dumb when I asked about the offshoring. KEEP IT UP! I read this site daily and I share this with fellow employees. We are no longer blind to the Gannett's secret agenda and misdeeds.

  3. Answer: yes. One officer even leaves anonymous comments here, slamming me. That person is so clueless, they think I don't know. Corporate can't so much as fart without my sources telling me. Talk about LOL!

  4. I only wish that this blog had existed back in the mid '90's. All the nasty game-playing, back-stabbing, foul nonsense may have been stopped or thwarted.

The cast of current characters, in part, is as a consequence of the past regimes of fear. The regional top players always took their demeanor from the top.

It rarely was a bottom's up company...everything came from the budget and NIBT.

Gary once was quoted as saying something about just adding more "zero's" to the analysis.
But as fast as one can add a zero, they can be lost as well.

It is hell to live in a swamp.

  5. The gulag-masters are very displeased with the new technology that allows the inmates to eavesdrop on top-secret communications and share information with each other through stone walls. In response, they are considering less-frequent hose baths, gruel servings and stool removal from cell floors. There is also talk of forcing illiterate inmates to contribute copy for a gulagwide ramping up of Bonus issues.

  6. The Bush Administration and Gannett in lock-step. How interesting. Who would have ever thunk of such comparison.

Michael Moore ought to do a movie on Gannett. While we think about a new lifestyle of $120 a barrel for oil, you'll have to live with a company that can't move their profit margins upward. The spin is all spun out.

Jim says: "Proceed with caution; this is a free-for-all comment zone. I try to correct or clarify incorrect information. But I can't catch everything. Please keep your posts focused on Gannett and media-related subjects. Note that I occasionally review comments in advance, to reject inappropriate ones. And I ignore hostile posters, and recommend you do, too."
